In DJ Echoes’s last post, he took it all the way back to high school. I’m going to follow his set precedent and do the same.
After years of being apart, the original lineup of Taking Back Sunday announced last April that they would be reuniting. If I recall correctly, I called three friends to tell them about the reunion, out of sheer excitement. We just didn’t appreciate the material on the albums that didn’t have John Nolan and Shaun Cooper as much as we did the material from the “Tell All Your Friends” era.
In August, Taking Back Sunday released the album “Live from Orensanz.” This album features acoustic versions of tracks from their previous albums. Though this album does not have the “Tell All Your Friends” lineup, it seems as though it is a precursor for what’s to come of the reuniting of the original lineup.
The last song on the album is an acoustic version of their infamous “Cute Without the ‘E’ (cut from the team).” I will embarrassingly admit that I have listened to this track more than twenty times in the past three days. If you have ever been a fan of Taking Back Sunday, this version of the song will have you thinking of the “good ol’ days” of carelessness in high school. Nostalgia takes over for the entirety of the song, and it’s an amazing feeling.
Taking Back Sunday’s fifth studio album is due out later this year. They will also be playing at Bamboozle 2011. Be sure to check them out if you’re planning on attending!
