Part of me feels like I haven’t been featuring local bands like I should. I’ve seen R E A L M A G I C and Gauntlet Hair as recently as Friday. And Jessie has turned me on to Hearts in Space and POPCULT among others. Yet, outside the recent mix, I don’t know when the last time I featured a Denver band was. I’ll remedy that today with The Don’ts and Be Carefuls.
The Don’ts and Be Carefuls are an awesome Denver four-piece made up of Casey Banker, Luke Hunter James-Erickson, Cody Witsken, and Dane Bernhardt. I’m assuming the name is based on the old cinematic axiom regarding censorship and fittingly, the band plays dancy, indie pop that might make you want to dance without regards to any rules. So Money exemplifies this. It’s a new song off their upcoming second release.
Their Sun Hits EP, featuring seven songs including So Money, will be released September 9th, 2011. The release party is the same night at Hi-Dive if anyone in Denver is interested. 99% chance I’ll be there.
