Meera's Favorite Songs of 2011

I know it’s not Monday and you’re hearing from me. To be quite honest, I totally forgot about everything this past week. I suppose the holidays can do that to you.

2011 was a great year for music…for the most part. So just as Ian and Allie have year-end lists, so do I. (By the way, if you have yet to check out Ian’s or Allie’s posts…be sure to do so!)

As I was making lists in my head for this post, I started to realize that only half of my favorite tracks of this year were actually released in 2011, the rest were released between 2009 and 2010 but I’ll admit to having been late to appreciating their greatness and still want to list them here.

Note: The lists are a bit diverse.

In no particular order, my favorite tracks of 2011 that were released prior to this year:

The Naked and Famous – Girls Like You
Mutemath – Clockwork
Yellow Ostrich – Whale
Sleigh Bells – Tell ‘Em
Matt & Kim – Good for Great
Baths – Aminals
Mumford & Sons – The Cave

My favorite tracks of 2011 actually released in 2011 (again, in no particular order):

Bright Eyes – One for You, One for Me
Bombay Bicycle Club – Shuffle
Bon Iver – Holoscene
Lupe Fiasco – Never Forget You
Jhameel – White Lies
Young the Giant – 12 Fingers
Wye Oak – Civilian

That’s about it from for the year.

Until next year… Catchya later tricks!
