Youngblood Hawke – Concert Review

It was dark outside. It was raining. I forgot my umbrella. I threw my hood up, and started my trek to the 9:30 Club. I knew the night was going to be awesome already because I’d be reliving some of favorite college memories in hearing Passion Pit play Sleepyhead live. What I didn’t know on that rainy walk to the metro station was that I was going to leave 9:30 Club a fan of a band I had never heard of before.

Around 8:45, Youngblood Hawke took the stage.  Youngblood Hawke is filled with talented indie rockers from Los Angeles. Their performance of their single We Come Running from their self-titled EP had the crowd pumped. My heart was racing, maybe that was the red bull I’d just finished, but I’m going to say it was the carefree and energetic stylings that encompassed the soon-to-be hit single. I’m pretty sure it made everyone’s Monday 100 times better. If you’ve read any of my previous concert reviews, then you know I’m a sucker for stage presence and boy do these guys look like they’re having a killer time up there. I can honestly say I enjoyed their set so much more seeing them having a blast up there.

The track that topped their performance off for me was their rendition of my all-time favorite rap song: Juicy by the one and only Notorious B.I.G. (may he rest in peace).

Check out Youngblood Hawke’s video for their single We Come Running. If you like what you hear, be sure to get their EP on iTunes. They’re sure to be huge soon. I’m definitely a new fan.
