Happy New Year’s Day to everyone. Hope everyone had a good time and made it back to wherever you’re going safely.
For the first post of 2012, I want to feature Blake Panter’s Go On. To be honest, I wanted to feature it as the last post of 2011, but time constraints and a wandering attention span prevented me from writing anything. I wanted to write about because I thought it summarized 2011 for me so well.
I wish that I was unafraid
Just a boy, it was yesterday
Go on, go on, go on, go on
Go On was released in December and for a reason unbeknownst to me, it hasn’t received any attention. From the release notes, the song seems to be an effort by Blake to collect himself and it’s on that level I relate.
I’ve been making mistakes since January 1
For me, 2011 was a year to find myself and there were some mistakes. But those mistakes had to be made–to clarify where I was, what I wanted, and ultimately who I am. It was a year of recovery and discovery in some sense.
Blake was one half of the short-lived, hyped Novaak. He disappeared from the Dallas music scene for several months after the duo’s breakup and this single is his reemergence. Here’s hoping he’s releasing more awesome music in 2012.
We’re all swaying, swaying back and forth…
