Meera’s Music Monday Madness

[Nope, you don't get the song title/artist in the title today]

On a fine July afternoon, two of my best friends picked me up from Denver’s airport. A song was playing on the radio and I instantly loved it. Never having heard any of the tracks by these musicians ever before, despite the fact that Ian has written about them numerous times this summer, I pulled out my phone and immediately SoundHound’ed the song to figure out who/what it was. (Yes, I just turned a phone application into a verb.)

Though it is now August, I figured I absolutely had to write about this song.

I have a playlist on my YouTube account of songs from this summer. I’ve been listening to said playlist repeatedly for the past two weeks. This happens to be the first track on the playlist. So who wants to guess the first song to make the cut–which also happens to be the featured song for my post today? The most blogged about group on this site this summer (all thanks to Ian!)?

Are you sick of my attempt to build your anticipation yet???

Answer: The Cave by Mumford and Sons

If you’re a frequent visitor to 1146 miles then you understand what I meant when I said this is the most written about group.

Everything from the vocals and the lyrics to the random instruments that appear in this glorious song make me think of the summertime and driving down a tree-filled road (George Washington Memorial Parkway, for all my DC/Baltimore folks).

I told Ian I wasn’t going to write about Mumford and Sons, ever, because he’s featured them so many times. Well, I gave into my temptation. Hope you don’t mind.

Until next Monday…
