It takes me a long time to fall in love with an entire album, which is why now that I’ve done it again I have to share. Oh My God Charlie Darwin is a world unto itself, a low tempo folk epic released in 2009. The songs range from meditative to defiant, and use everything from acoustic guitars to a World War II era church organ.
Honestly, I am still catching up with these guys, they have a new album out but all I seem to be able to do is listen to this one over and over (and multiple times on the road). I am posting the first track of the album, it catches your fancy you should buy yourself the whole thing. This track has the same effect on me as Death Cab for Cutie’s Transatlanticism–that is, I feel like I’m floating in the middle of the Atlantic. I get very excitable nowadays, and this song has been calming me down.
