inception

Last night I went to see Inception and it’s the best movie I’ve seen in a long time. And I don’t throw out comments like that often because admittedly, I’m sort of a movie snob. I definitely recommend it, especially for this weekend. The two and half hours flew by for me. And the film made me think, which was a nice change of pace from most of the mundane Hollywood offerings. It reminded me of Lost because it did make me think. Some people were probably frustrated or confused but I enjoyed it. I am consciously trying to avoid spoiling any of it but I have to say the end left me sitting in my seat trying to process it all.

So in honor of the movie I chose the 1987 classic from Crowded House because I thought it was kind of appropriate.

[DDET Lyrics]
There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There’s a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you’ll never see the end of the road
While you’re traveling with me

Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won’t win

Now I’m towing my car, there’s a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion but there’s no proof
In the paper today, tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the TV page

Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won’t win

Now I’m walking again to the beat of a drum
And I’m counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead, barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and release

Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won’t win

Well, don’t let them win
Hey now, hey now
Don’t let them win
Don’t let them win, yeah
